Rosina Lowrey

Rosina Fern (Jones) Lowrey was born August 17, 1916 to John and Eva (Crowder) Jones in Woodbine, Iowa, the second of eight children. She grew up in the Woodbine area and attended country school and then Woodbine high school. After her schooling she helped area families and helped on the farm. In 1944 she married John B. Lowrey, Sr in Harlan, Iowa. The couple farmed east of Woodbine. John died on February 7, 1978.

Rosina "Ma" was a very good cook, she and her sons were known for their homemade glazed doughnuts. She enjoyed embroidery, crossword puzzles and gardening. In the nursing home she liked to play bingo and sing at the sing-a-longs.

Rosina died Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa attaining the age of 88 years six months, and three days.

Rosina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers LaVerne, Charles and John "Casey" Jones, three sisters May Jones, Helen Jones and Marie Davis and two granddaughters, Raye and Laurie Lowrey. She is survived by her two sons, John B. Lowrey, Jr, and George M. Lowrey both of Woodbine, Iowa; grandson Aaron Smith of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister Elda Shinn of Woodbine, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Esta Jones of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Berniece Lowrey of Woodbine, Iowa and Bea Lowrey of Omaha, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends.
