Ruth Joanna Bertha (Miller) Gorham was born on June 27, 1926, in Denison, Iowa to Harry C. and Flora (Reuwsaat) Miller. Ruth attended middle school in Denison and gradated from Denison High School in 1945. After graduation she worked at a grocery store in Denison. Ruth married Max Kermit Gorham on April 6, 1947. The couple farmed in the Dunlap area until 1953 when they moved to Woodbine and farmed until Max's death on May 22, 1985. Ruth worked at Bob's Caf� in Woodbine where she was noted for her pies.
Ruth enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and embroidery. She also enjoyed baking and collecting cookbooks.
Ruth died on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa attaining the age of 83 years, eight months, and 16 days.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Kermit Gorham; son, Charles Gorham; grandson, Tim Gorham; two brothers, Allen and Marvin Miller; and one sister, Irene Oldfield. She is survived by her two daughters, Linda and Everett Gunderson of Minden, Iowa, Sandra and Richard Richmond of Omaha, Nebraska; four sons, Richard and Carole Gorham of Woodbine, Iowa, Ronald and Janice Gorham of Plattsburg, Missouri, Robert and Jean-Marie Gorham of Woodbine, Iowa, Dale and Delilah Gorham of Georgia; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Miller of Hastings, Nebraska, Betty June Miller of Denison, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
