Thelma Lucille (Lantz) Bonar was born September 17, 1936, to Harley and Ella Jane (Hudson) Lantz in Dunlap, Iowa. She attended country school through the 8th grade and then attended Dunlap High School. Thelma married Robert Samuelson on July 5, 1953. The couple was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Jane and Keith. Thelma worked at the Dubuque Packing Plant and Farmland in Denison. Robert died on July 13, 1977. Thelma married Robert Bonar on March 9, 1978. They drove for Dilts Trucking in Crescent, Iowa as a man and wife team.
Thelma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dow City. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, and reading. She also enjoyed many motorcycle trips with Bob Bonar.
Thelma died on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison, Iowa at the age of 73 years, five months, and 21 days.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert Samuelson; second husband, Robert Bonar on January 8, 2008; son, Kenneth Samuelson; sister, Leona Lantz; brother, Merrell Lantz; stepson Dave Bonar; stepdaughter, Cheryl Walton. She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Mark) Crampton of Vail, Iowa; son Keith (Kelly) Samuelson of Mapleton, Iowa; step daughter, Nancy Smith of San Diego, California; step sons, Douglas (Barbara) Bonar of San Diego, California, Rob Bonar of Phoenix, Arizona; five granddaughters; three great granddaughters; 12 step grandchildren; and many step great grandchildren; sister, Nettie (Bob) Nuzum of Woodbine, Iowa; brother, Warren (Sandy) Lantz of Dunlap, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
