Twylia Hinkel

Twylia Cleone (Carrigan) Hinkel was born on March 8, 1931, to Lyle and Evelyn (Wallis) Carrigan in Pisgah, Iowa. She was raised near Pisgah and graduated from Pisgah High School in 1948 as the valedictorian. Twylia married Robert Hinkel on March 17, 1949, at the Elder's house. Twylia loved children and ran a daycare from her home.

Twylia loved to read, hold babies, and like her mother she kept a diary every day. She was a wonderful cook, loved to garden, hunt for morel mushrooms, and raise turkeys. Twylia also enjoyed fishing with Robert in Canada.

Twylia died Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at her home in Pisgah, at the age of 87 years, one month and 16 days.

Twylia was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Everette Durfee; and three brothers-in-law, Everette Howard, Boyd Pratt and Edward Steinhoff. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hinkel of Pisgah, Iowa; five children, Marty Hinkel and his wife Janet of West Point, Nebraska, Neal Vaughn Hinkel and his wife Joyce of Huachuca City, Arizona, Joe Hinkel and his wife Tami of Omaha, Nebraska, Bobbi Durfee of Pisgah, Iowa, Steve Hinkel and his wife Pam of Mondamin, Iowa; nine grand-children; 12 great grandchildren; five siblings, Carolyn Howard of Pisgah, Iowa, Jeanne Pratt of Moorhead, Iowa, Barbara and her husband Kenneth Wimer of Woodbine, Iowa, Ronda Steinhoff of Syracuse, Nebraska, Randy Carrigan and his wife Kerri of Soldier, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
