Vera Smith

Vera "Blanche" (Kline) Smith was born February 27, 1913, to Enos and Ida (Brundidge) Kline in Dunlap, Iowa. Vera was raised in the Dunlap area and attended Dunlap High School. On September 2, 1930, she married Charles E. Smith. Charles was a hired hand for several area farmers. The couple lived with Charles' family and on other farmsteads in the Dunlap area. In January of 1953, they moved to Omaha. Charles died on August 30, 1983.
Blanche enjoyed flowers ~ both inside and outside, quilting, sewing, and reading. She also loved her children and grandchildren. Blanche made a quilt for each child or grandchild as a wedding present. Blanche moved into the nursing home in 2000.
Blanche died on Thursday, December 29, 2005, at the Millard Good Samaritan Center in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 92 years, 10 months, and two days.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Edna Jane Davis; great grandson Nicholas Radik; sister, Catherine Rose; and two brothers, Ted and Raymond Kline. She is survived by her five children, Edward Smith and his wife Shirley of Kent, Washington, Loren Smith and his wife Leona of Omaha, Nebraska, Ted Smith and his wife Bernice of Omaha, Nebraska, Sarah and her husband Dayton Dickens of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Kathy and her husband John Szymczak of Omaha, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a couple of great great grandchildren; two sisters, Maymie Shumate of Dunlap, Iowa, Mary Ellen and her husband Raymond Segebart of Dow City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Kathryn Kline of Denison, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
