Vernon Skarin

Vernon J. Skarin, 92, of Woodbine died on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine. Vernon was born on August 19, 1920 near Kiron, Iowa to parents Einar and Ruby (Peterson) Skarin. On August 25, 1943, Vernon married Rose Reuwsaat in Denison, Iowa. The couple started farming near Ida Grove, Iowa and then in 1947 moved to a farm east of Woodbine. The couple continued to farm and Vernon sold Wonderlife Soil Supplement for a while. Vernon was also active in the NFO.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Darlene Yorty and Viola Witte. Vernon is survived by his wife, Rose Skarin of Woodbine, Iowa; one daughter, Patricia "Pat" Skarin of Woodbine, Iowa; five sons, Richard Skarin of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dennis and Carol Skarin of Casper, Wyoming, John and Kathy Skarin of Laramie, Wyoming, Donald and Christine Skarin of Des Moines, Iowa and Roy and Cindy Skarin of Indianola, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Vernon's wishes were to be cremated and to not have any services.
