Veronica White

Veronica L Wehr White was born December 19, 1909, in Portsmouth, Iowa to parents John E. and Henrietta (Baxter) Wehr. She was raised in the Portsmouth area and graduated from St. Mary's High School in May of 1928. On November 28, 1928 she married Leo C. White. The couple moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1949. Leo died on March 5, 1971. In 1973 Veronica moved to Missouri Valley, Iowa. She became a resident of Longview Home on February 25, 2000.

Veronica held various jobs including the telephone company in Portsmouth, she sold Avon, she worked at Schwartz Printing, she was a waitress and she also trained the girls at Job Corps to be waitresses. She eventually retired from the Job Corps. She also had several hobbies including crafts, sewing, and crocheting hangers.

Veronica died December 25, 2003, at Longview Home, in Missouri Valley, Iowa reaching the age of 94 years and six days.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers Paul, Vincent, Ambrose, and John; four sisters Irene, Henrietta, Mary, and Claryce; three grandchildren; and one great grandson. She is survived by her children Donna and her husband James Wendt of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Patricia Dettmer of Las Vegas, Neil White of Alexandra, Louisiana, Mary Ann and her husband Kenneth Kups of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Dennis White and his wife Loretta of Hayden, Idaho; 43 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and one sister Viola Harvey of Winchester Oregon and many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at the St. Mary's Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Iowa.
A Scripture service will be at 7 PM Monday with the family receiving friends from 7 - 9 PM Monday at the Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine, Iowa.
