Viola Audrey (English) Brown was born October 11, 1917, to Robert and Pricilla (Raines) English in Penns Grove, New Jersey. She was raised in Penns Grove and graduated from Penns Grove High School. Viola attended Glassbourgh State Teachers College. She taught in both the public and private schools.
Viola married William Raymond "Brownie" Brown on April 20, 1935, in Penns Grove, New Jersey. The couple lived in New Jersey, Iowa, Florida, and Nebraska. William died on January 14, 2000. Viola always loved children and teaching them. Viola and Brownie owned and operated the "Barbara Roy Nursery School" in New Jersey for 14 years. The last five years Viola has resided at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska and continued teaching some of the residents while she was able to. Viola served as a Methodists minister's wife for 60 years
Viola died on Monday, February 13, 2006, in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of 88 years, four months, and two days.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brownie; and two sisters, Pearl English and Bertha O'Brian. She is survived by her daughter, Janice and her husband Roger Soukup of The Villages, Florida, son, Wesley Brown and his wife Dianne of Afton, Tennessee; adopted daughter, Lynn and her husband Brad Ferrini of Modesto, California; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one step grandson; two step great grandchildren; two nieces, Dorothy Vaughan of Willmington, Delaware, and Mary Young of Ft. Myers, Florida; and many other relatives and friends.
