Viola (Ronk) Hastert

Viola Mae (Haberberger) Hastert was born on August, 2, 1924, in Earling, Iowa to George and Anna (Gross) Haberberger. She attended school in Earling and Woodbine. Viola married Alva F. Ronk on February 8, 1943, and to this union five children were born. Viola later married Earl Hastert in August of 1991. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Woodbine.

Viola died on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine at the age of 88 years, three months, and five days.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Adella; two husbands, Alva Ronk and Earl Hastert; five brothers, Ernest, Clement, Gregory, Donald and Leonard; three sisters, Marilyn, Cecelia and Rita. She is survived by her four children, Shirley (Don) Winkler of Omaha NE, Alice (David) Gurney of Council Bluffs, IA, Linda (Mike) Moore of Council Bluffs, IA and Alan (Terri) Ronk of Woodbine, IA; sister, Geraldine Coleman of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law, Helen Haberberger of Leshara, NE; five granddaughters, Jayna (Sean) Montag, Shelley (Ed) Baker, Amy Mefferd (friend Jeff Martens), Brenda Summerfield and Whitney Ronk; five grandsons, Kevin (Tammi) Reynolds, Jamie (Darcy) Winther, Matt (Brandi) Ronk, Joshua Ronk and Justin Ronk; eight great-grandchildren, Lacie Winther, Amber Winther, Aaron Mefferd, Alicia Mefferd, Allison Summerfield, Katie Summerfield, Austin Baker and Mason Baker; along with two step grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and numerous family members and friends.
