Virginia Schlinz

Virginia Caroline Segne (Pedersen) Schlinz was born January 2, 1932, to Rudolph and Emma (Reincke) Pedersen in Battle Creek, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Battle Creek, Iowa for most of her childhood until her folks moved to Galva, Iowa where she attended high school. On January 16, 1949, Virginia married Lloyd Schlinz. Together they farmed near Holstein and Washta, Iowa until their retirement. Lloyd died on June 7, 2006 and a year later Virginia moved to Woodbine.

Virginia enjoyed gardening, cooking, card games, traveling, camping and fishing. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and loved studying her Bible.

Virginia died on Monday May 2, 2016, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 84 years and four months.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Schlinz; and two sisters, Mildred Edsen and Irma Barry. She is survived by her four children, Rheta and her husband Don Groff of New Prague, Minnesota; Craig and wife Jean of Surprise, Arizona, Kent and wife Phyllis of Ocala, Florida, Perry and wife Kris of Riverview, Florida; 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; sister, Goldie Robinson of Cherokee, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
