William Wilson Wadsworth was born August 6, 1921, in Monona County, Iowa to Clyde Wilson and Flossie Annie (Kessler) Wadsworth. He attended country school and graduated from 8th grade at Lincoln #2 in Harrison County. He did farm work and then worked for Booster Buck Mfg. Co. in Dunlap. On March 19, 1944, he married Evelyn Kroll. The couple farmed in Monona County from 1950 to 1980 and then moved into Dunlap. Bill worked for Leaders Equipment and the City of Dunlap. Evelyn died on April 24, 1986. Bill had been a resident of the Dunlap Nursing and Rehab Center since August of 2006.
Bill was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, growing roses, playing euchre and bingo, polka music, watching baseball and collecting antiques. Bill also enjoyed hunting mushrooms in his earlier years.
Bill died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 86 years, four months and 30 days.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; two brothers, Bruce & Clarence Wadsworth; sister, Alice Buter and granddaughter Theresa Gosch. He is survived by four children, William (Sandra) Wadsworth of Dunlap, IA, Diane (Leonard) Gosch of Castana, IA, Steve (Mary) Wadsworth of Dunlap, IA & Carol (Rod) Gleason of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Fidell (Erna) Wadsworth of Moville, IA; three sisters, Della (Wayne) Nelson of Hartley, IA, Florence (Edward) Crawford of Tallmadge, OH, & Ruth (LeRoy) Deles Dernier of Jefferson City, MO; three sisters-in-laws, Goldie Wadsworth of Dunlap, IA, Mary Kroll of Shelby, IA & Ruby Kroll of Donna, TX; and other relatives and friends.
