Winifred Hansen

Winifred "Winnie" Hansen was born June 13, 1922 in Missouri Valley to parents Winfield & Jane (Rogers) Foote.
She graduatedin 1940 from Missouri Valley High School. After completing beauty school in Council Bluffs, she worked as a beautician in Sidney, IA, Cedar Falls and Missouri Valley. On April 15, 1945, Winnie married Mervin Hansen in Missouri Valley. The couple farmed for two years, then moved into Logan. Winnie worked as a beautician in Logan and they operated Hansen Transfer for 35 years. She was a beautician for 50 years.
Winnie was an active member of the Christian Church in Logan, and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed shopping, bowling and most of all her family and friends.
Winnie died on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs at the age of 81 years, five months and 20 days.
Winnie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Virgil Foote. Survived by husband, Mervin Hansen of Logan; son, Dale Hansen & wife Chris of Waxahachie, TX; daughters, Rhonda Gold & husband Eugene of Centennial, CO and Colleen Stark & husband Larry of Webster City, IA; 6 grandchildren, Terre Evans, Eric Hansen & wife Laura, Gabe Burkhart, Justin Gold, Garett Burkhart and Patrick Gold; 2 great grandchildren, McKenzie Evans and Creighton Hansen; 3 step grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane Peterson & husband Jack of Missouri Valley; brother, William Foote & wife Jeannie of Sioux Falls, SD; sister-in-law, Vivian Kaufman of Woodbine and many other relatives and friends.
