Bonnie O'Day

Bonnie Kay (Buff) O’Day was born on March 17, 1941, to Alvie Ernest “Ernie” and Genevieve (Birkhofer) Buff near Dow City, Iowa. She was one of 10 children. Bonnie attended Dow City-Arion Community School and graduated with her class in 1959. Bonnie married Bill O’Day on April 30, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dow City. The couple lived on the O’Day family farm outside of Dunlap. Bonnie worked at  various floral shops in the area and at the Boyer Valley School with the lunch program. In the spring of 2007 the couple retired and moved into Dunlap.

Bonnie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Bonnie was a wonderful cook and she loved to bake and care for her family. She loved to feed  cardinals, go to the casino and take care of her grandchildren.

Bonnie died on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the Dunlap Specialty Care at the age of 77 years, nine months, and two days.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Thelma Podey, Pat Clark, Perry Buff, June Arlene Buff (in infancy) and Karen Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Bill O’Day of Dunlap, Iowa; four children, Brenda and her husband Rick Fahle of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Belinda O’Day of Dunlap, Iowa, Benita and her husband Mike Foley of Omaha, Nebraska, Brad O’Day and his wife Chris of Dunlap, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Heath (Emily) Fahle, Emily (Cristian) Gomez, Abbey (Guillermo) Perez, Skyler Johnson, Ben (Tessa) Stolz, Katie O’Day, Will, David and Megan Foley, Jessica and Jada O’Day; eight great grandchildren, Faith, Violet and Elizabeth Fahle, Leilah, Grace and Max Gomez, Brayden DeAngelis and Rowen Perez; four brothers, Chuck Buff and his wife Leslie of Porter, Indiana, Nick Buff of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Chris Buff and his wife Estela of McHenry, Illinois, Ransom “Butch” Buff; and many other  relatives and friends.
